The Ciccotti Center Aquatic Program offers the new American Red Cross Learn-To-Swim classes to provide instruction to help swimmers of all ages and abilities develop their swimming and water safety skills.  It is designed to give students a positive learning experience.  Learn-To-Swim teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression.  The objective is to teach people to swim and to be safe in, on and around the water.  Skills are categorized in the following way:

            Water entry and exit

            Breath control and underwater swimming

            Buoyancy

            Changing direction and position

            Treading

Swimming on front, back and side

            General and personal water safety

            Helping others

The Learn-To-Swim program is for children who are at least of kindergarten age.  Participants for levels 2-4 will be asked to present their American Red Cross card at the time of registration proving successful completion of the previous level.  Participants without a card are asked to contact Joe Herzberg to schedule a swim test to insure proper class placement.  Please note: individuals who were on the waiting list from the Spring I session have received first priority for these classes.

For the complete swimming lessons schedule, please see the CYC Summer Program Guide.
