Recreational Basketball Leagues
The Colonie Youth Center Recreational Basketball program focuses on teaching players the basics of basketball. Our goal is to teach each player about the game and provide them with equal amounts of playing time while having FUN! CYC coaches are volunteers who have varied levels of basketball knowledge.
The leagues will conduct their first practice on the dates listed below. Only players who have registered by the deadline may attend the practice sessions. Participants will be placed on a team and will be contacted by their coach regarding practice times. Players who register and cannot attend the first night will be placed on a team and notified by his/her coach. All players will receive a team T-shirt and a season ending award for their participation. Game schedules and team T-shirts will be handed out at one of the practice sessions. Parents interested in coaching please contact Roger Manion at 867-8920 ext 224. There will be a coaches meeting before the season begins to go over policies and procedures as well as rules for the recreational basketball league, date TBD.

“Triple Threat” Co-ed Basketball Clinic

3 On 3 Basketball Tournaments New
Enjoy the excitement of 3 on 3 basketball; this tournament will consist of teams of no more than 5 players. Each contest will be 12 minutes in duration or the first team to 16 will win and move on in this double elimination tourney. This one-day event will test the endurance of all that participate. Players can sign-up individually and be assigned to a team or they can register their completed team. All games will be referred and games will be drawn randomly. Youth Indoor Soccer League
Soccer the fastest growing sport in North America. This indoor league will emphasis on fundamentals and league play 4 v 4. Each team will be coached by a high school junior or senior soccer player from local schools. Participants will begin with warm ups, skills session and a 30 minute game running time. Each team will consist of eight players to insure plenty of playing time. Each player will receive a team t-shirt. Teams will be drafted prior to November 18, coaches will contact their team and let them know what time to arrive for the first day

Youth AIKIDO KOKIKAI Self Defense
The goal of many martial arts is to “beat others before they beat you” In kokikai Aikido we do not believing in fighting. We teach students to avoid conflict. When, it is not possible to avoid a fight, we move out of the way of the attack. We use the attacker’s aggressive force against them and throw or pin the attacker on the ground. Our goal is to defend ourselves without hurting others. Teach your children to be more civilized than the people that would attack them using the Kokikai Aikido techniques children’s class.

This program provides a great opportunity at the Rudy A Ciccotti Family Recreation Center, for children in a supervised setting. Competitive Basketball Program
THE PROGRAM
The Colonie Youth Center Competitive Basketball Program is a competitive program. This program focuses on competitive, travel basketball a higher skill level of basketball. CYC sponsors 19 teams for boys and girls in grades 4 through 8 in the Capital District Boys Basketball League (CDBBL) and the Albany Capitals Girls Basketball League (ACGBL).
This program requires a significant time commitment. Teams will practice at least twice per week from October through the end of the season in March. Games will be played on Saturdays or Sundays beginning in November. Away games will be at schools throughout the Capital District.
Each team is assigned a volunteer coach.
As a member of the CDBBL and CDGBL, CYC agrees to abide by their rules and expects coaches, players, parents and fans to do the same. Coaches, players and parents are required to sign a Code of Conduct. Failure to abide by the Code may result in expulsion from the league.
Each team will be comprised of at least 10 players. Players must reside within the school district and be in the appropriate grade for their team, special circumstances are handled on an individual basis and are dictated by league rules and voted on by the league board and team reps. Call 867-8920 for clarification. Please note, documentation verifying residency and age may be required by the league.
The price of the program is $205 for North Colonie and $185 for South Colonie. This includes referee fees, gym rental, a personal basketball, reversible pinnies, player reversible uniform (
TRYOUTS
Children interested in trying-out for the team that they are eligible for (appropriate grade and school district) must pre-register. No one will be permitted to enter the try-out unless a registration form and release of liability have been completed and signed by a parent or guardian. There is no fee to try-out.
To be eligible for a team, candidates must attend BOTH try-outs. CYC’s volunteer coaches will lead tryouts, but neutral party will select the players. At the conclusion of the try-outs each participant will receive an envelope indicating if he or she were selected. If your child was selected there will be a parent meeting on the dates listed below;
